2/7 Music, poetry and art at ‘Summer Nights’ at CaixaForum

As every summer, CaixaForum offers ‘Sumer Nights’ with concerts, theatre, poetry readings, temporary exhibitions and other activities at open air, in the hall of the museum located close to the Montjuïc Fountain, just five minutes from Plaça Espanya. ‘Summer Nights’ are every Wednesday from 8pm during months of July and August. The activities cost 3-6 Euros.

Talking about music, the venue includes concerts of various kinds of music, from classical to electronic music. One of the first musical show is ‘Cinema a dues mans’ (Cine with two hands), by musician and composer Xavier Torres. This concert will explore music from the soundtracks of well-known films and from the point of view of the composer. We will also enjoy African music with Ray Lema, one of the most innovative and creative artists from Africa, combining Zaire tribal sounds with electrifying influences from Europe. There is more music at CaixaForum: Trivium Klezmer, who use up virtuosity and passion for klezmer, the original Jewish music from Eastern Europe.

Regarding to the theater, and as it was last year, the show ‘El musical participativo’ (The participatory musical) will make a remember of the musical theater history. Vocal soloist Mariona Castillo and Jordi Vidal will be with a choir of over 150 singers.

In these selected evenings at CaixaForum will also be space for dance, with the show ‘Best of you’, by the company La Intrusa accompanied on the piano by Clara Peya; and for circus, thanks to ‘Noches de circo’ (Night Circus), a selection of the most outstanding works of students of the Rogelio Rivel circus School.

At Summer Night we will also find the show ‘Intensament Vinyoli’, a combination of poetry and music that pays homage to Joan Vinyoli, main figure of Catalan literature, on the centenary of his death. Toti Soler guitar will sound with the actor Joan Massotkleiner words, which go into poet’s verses evoking roots, love and heartbreake, loneliness and knowledge.

On the other hand, art will be also present at Summer Nights at CaixaForum, thanks to the performance ‘Paraules a la riba (del mar de Sorolla)’ (Words on the seashore (by Sorolla), a journey through the exhibition named ‘Sorolla’. ‘El color del mar’ (Sea colours) will be with the poet Lali Álvarez and the artists Ada Vilaró.

At Hotel Omm, our five-star hotel in Paseo de Gracia, we always want to make your stay more pleasant, so we suggest this exciting venue organized by CaixaForum Foundation for summer nights in Barcelona.
